RSS Feeds

RSS feeds are an innovative resource on the web that allows you to have website or blog content forwarded directly to you when it is updated.  This tool is good for sites that are updated frequently and ones that you visit regularly.  Sites that are enabled with an RSS feed will aggregate, or summarize, new content and send it to you in the time you have requested, i.e. daily, weekly, etc.  You may also have full text selections sent, depending on the website’s RSS options.

To subscribe to a feed, just look for the RSS symbol on the website you wish to receive content from, which looks like this: . Click this symbol and follow the instructions.  To access the content you will need a RSS feed reader or newsreader.  Most can be downloaded from the web for free.  Try Google Reader or Feed Reader for Windows.  Soon you will have all the new content from your favourite sites without spending hours browsing the web!
